O.k. so yes. It was crazy to race when I was sick but it was my last race as a cat.4. I hope! I finally submitted my requests for an upgrade to cat3 for next year for both USCF and ABR.
After talking with my coach and looking at my over all performance it would be beneficial for me and the new development team I will be on next year. I'm really looking forward to the challenge.
Back to the Fall Fling, the time trial on Saturday was a bit of an eye opener. I haven't done much time trialing this year and it showed in my results. However, I did put in the effort. I went out to hard and didn't have enough for the end. I did manage to pull off 2nd place in the
women's 4.
On Sunday, I woke up feeling crappy. I could not stop coughing. I started feeling sick on Friday before the TT. I knew something was up. I was fighting it. I headed to the race early. I got on my trainer and warmed up. It was a cold morning for our race at 10:20 a.m. The sun came out and eventually warmed things up. Stacy from Endure it and I have been hanging with each other during this entire Fall Fling series. It has been a lot of fun racing with her and the other women as well. Before we lined up I couldn't stop coughing again. People where looking at me thinking . "Is she really gonna race?" I just wanted to hang out in the small field we had and stay in the back. I didn't know how much I could take being sick. The race started and the pace was slow. Stacy wanted to just go. So I bridged up to her and one other rider. We all worked together for a few laps. Then we dropped the other rider. Stacy and I took off and worked with each other the rest of the race. Last lap, I took Stacy's wheel towards the finish line. I was losing my breath. I got out of the saddle and tryed to shoot for a hard sprint with whatever I had left. I didn't quite make it. The effort was there. I gave it my all for my last official women's cat4 race.
Nicely done ABD. All of you put on such a fantastic race series. It was a lot of fun. Thank you for your support this year.
