It was a foggy morning trip to Crete,IL. The race was held at "tuckaway golf course" And yes, the name is what it is. The course is tucked away off of the road. Races started at 9:00 a.m. The sun finally burned the fog away. It became a beautiful morning. I got out my trainer and warmed up. I was very happy to be at a "race" again. I don't want to think about winter coming up. My thoughts of moving someplace warmer has crossed my mind several times, but maybe we all think of that during the winter months.
Again, being late racing season, women fields where small. I raced women's cat4. Only 6 of us I think in this field. Wind picked up. We decided all to work together and take pulls in front during the entire race. Race was slow but it was fun to work with all of the women and just have a low key race. At the end, I gave my sprint another strong effort. I picked up some spin. I wasn't in the greatest position, so I took a wheel of the rider in front. I hit it and took off. I couldn't believe it I had some pretty good power come back during my final sprint. I passed the most of the riders and came very close to the 1st place riders wheel... Oh well,... 2nd place it was. It's o.k. It was fun to just get my sprint going again... Weight lifting is really doing me good...
Looking forward to the Maple Park time trial. Praying for nice weather!
