Weight Lifting and Cycling

Monday Nov 31st, my 1st official day of week 1 training. I taught spin in the morning and lifted weights that evening at Lifetime Fitness. I warmed up on the treadmill for 20 mins instead of 10 mins. Then I did 3 sets instead of 2 sets of the following, good mornings, squats, lunges forward, backwards and sideways, calf raises, bent over rows and pull downs. Afterwards, I did do some stretching but no cool down on the bike. So, day 2 Tuesday, its 55 degrees and sunny. I was feeling a bit sore in the legs and back area and as the day went on I could feel the soreness more and more. But, I still decided to do my 2 hr endurance ride outside. I was lucky enough to find a baby sitter for the afternoon. I was all smiles thinking how great this ride was going to be. I get on bike and about 10 mins into the ride, my legs gave in and said "NO NO". I was riding into the headwind and I could feel my lower back hurting, my legs where on fire. It is the worst feeling when your mind tells you to keep going but the legs just wont go. I kicked it into a lighter gear and small chain ring and did easy spin all the way, for 2 hrs. I didnt realize that weight lifting can really tear down your muscles so proper warm up and cool down is important.

Moving on to more endurance riding this week.
